Watershed
25th Anniversary Special Exhibitions
In the past 25 years, there have been more than 1,100 national
and international artists who have had a residency at the Watershed
Center for the Ceramic Arts in Newcastle, Maine. Eight exhibitions
scheduled around Watershed’s INVITE + IGNITE 25th Anniversary
program will highlight works from more than 200 of these artists.
Exhibitions will occur at multiple venues and are listed by
location.

To celebrate the special environment at Watershed that has nurtured
creativity among emerging, mid and late career artists, guest
curator Judith Schwartz has selected a representative artist
from each year of its 25-year existence, and like candles on
a cake, collectively exemplify the diversity and exuberance
of a unique generation of contemporary ceramic art.

Salad Days Artists: Then & Now
2012 marks the 18th Annual Salad Days picnic and fundraising
event, and we celebrate this with an exhibition of past Salad
Days plate artists. The exhibition will feature original plates
made during the artists' Salad Days residency as well current
works of art.

Artist and art educator Jonathan Mess brings together select
students from six regional high schools to showcase the best
student ceramic art being made by students in the area around
Watershed. Represented high schools include Wiscasset High School,
Medomak Valley High School, Boothbay Region High School, Erskine
Academy, Lincoln Academy and Richmond High School.
