Watershed Kiln Gods
April 21-May 26, 2012
Baltimore Clayworks
5707 Smith Avenue

Curator: Phyllis Kudder Sullivan
Traditionally, clay kiln gods are good luck idols that acted as sentinels over the entrance of a kiln and blessed the firing.
The Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts signature Kiln God Awards have been kiln “godsends,” providing financial support for
artists, especially young and emerging talent, to create and grow in a Watershed residency. Watershed’s Kiln Gods Exhibit
will focus attention on a select group of artists who received Kiln God Awards for fully funded residencies at Watershed,
as well as, acknowledge the Kiln Gods and Goddesses who sponsored their Watershed experience.
Featuring past Watershed Kiln God award recipients:
Sadashi Inuzuka, Todd Shanafelt, Susan Elizalde, Tim Rowan, Paul Donnelly, Kevin Snipes,
Judy Moonelis, Joy Tanner, Jill Lawley, Jeremy Hatch, Hope Rovelto, Kelly Garrett Rathbone, David Linger,
