Annual Summer Exhibitions
Two
concurrent group exhibitions will feature past and current Watershed
resident artists. The sculpture exhibit, Obsessive Allegories
will include artist works selected by Watershed's Exhibitions
Committee; the Watershed Pottery Invitational will highlight
functional ceramics from artists invited to participate in Watershed's
Invitational Pottery Sale at Salad Days, curated by Elizabeth
Kendall.

Obsessive Allegories brings together a group of artists who use their art to embellish
reality rather than merely depict it. They create plausible narratives that inform and
reveal truths about the human condition by using suggestive imagery, and intense situations
that are both poignant and compulsive.

Watershed and Water Street Artists at the Stable Gallery are
partnering for a third summer season of on-going sale and exhibition
of ceramic artworks from Watershed’s acclaimed staff and invited
artists-in-residence! Located in neighboring Damariscotta, the
gallery’s season runs mid-May through mid-October, and includes
monthly receptions celebrating different groups of Member and
represented artists.
The Water Street Artists cooperative features painting, textiles,
woodworking, jewelry, ceramics and more from artists throughout
Maine’s midcoast region.

LEGENDS - Watershed Artists Honor Artists

Festival Hall, Chicago’s Historic Navy Pier
Opening Night Preview: Thursday, November 3, 7:00-9:00pm
This year's Watershed LEGENDS Award honorees are Val
Cushing, Richard Shaw, Paul Smith and Patti Warashina,
artists whose work has shaped the field and whose contributions
have influenced so many. Major works from each artist will be
exhibited in Watershed's Special Exhibition space at the SOFA
Chicago Exposition, November 4-6, 2011. A panel discussion with
the artists moderated by Gretchen Keyworth, Director Emerita
of Fuller Craft Museum, will be included in the SOFA program.
The LEGENDS
Awards Gala will be held November 4, at the Arts
Club of Chicago.
