Directions

Located in Newcastle, Maine, Watershed is about an hour’s drive northeast of Portland and three hours from Boston. Its 32 rural acres are set on gently rolling hills of both open and wooded land, surrounded by a neighboring farm, nature conservancy land, and the Sheepscot River. Watershed is situated a short drive from several lakes and the ocean. The administrative office and the main campus are less than a tenth of a mile apart.

By Car from the South:

Take I-95 (Maine Turnpike) north to I-295 (South Portland- Exit 44). I-295 takes you through Portland. Note: I-295 is NOT the Maine Turnpike at this point. Follow I-295 approx. 28 miles north to Brunswick, taking Exit 28 (the exit signs read Bath-Brunswick Coastal Route). Follow Rt. 1 north through Brunswick, Bath and Wiscasset. After crossing the Sheepscot River bridge, just after downtown Wiscasset, continue 1 mile to Cochran Rd. Cochran Rd. is on the LEFT at the top of a long, steep hill, just past the Rt. 27 turnoff to Boothbay (that is on the right), at the intersection just before the Skip Cahill Citgo Gas Station (on the left).

From the North:

Watershed is about 8 miles south of Damariscotta/Newcastle via Rt. 1. Turn right onto Cochran Rd., at the top of a long hill just after the Skip Cahill Citgo Gas Station.

After turning onto Cochran Rd:

Go seven-tenths of a mile down Cochran Road and look on the right for the Watershed sign. Turn right on to Brick Hill Road. The first building on the right is Thompson Hall, which contains the kitchen, dining and common area, and offices. Take a hard right turn into the parking lot. The studios in the old factory building are at the bottom of the hill, to the right, past Thompson Hall. Note: the farm to the left of Brick Hill Road is not part of Watershed.

By Bus:

Concord Coach lines provides service up the Maine coast from New York City and Boston.  The Damariscotta  stop is about 7 miles from Watershed.

By Plane:

Watershed is easily accessible from the Portland, ME jetport and Boston’s Logan airport.  If you fly into Portland, there are several taxi/limo services that can take you to Watershed.
