Support Watershed Artists

Watershed endeavors to make our residencies accessible to anyone interested in attending a session; however, many artists would not be able to take part without the help of generous donors who provide support for scholarships. Approximately 45% of the artists who attend our residency programs receive financial aid on an annual basis.

Give to the Scholarship Fund

Watershed alumni regularly speak about their residency experience as life-changing.  Your donation to the Residency Scholarship Fund helps provide transformative experiences to artists at all stages of their careers. Watershed welcomes gifts of any size to this fund; even a small gift can have a big impact. We award scholarships with consideration given to merit and financial need. Awards cover up to 65% of the cost of a 2-week residency.

Become a Kiln God

Historically, a kiln god is a figure made of clay that is placed over the entrance of a kiln to provide good luck during a firing. At Watershed, Kiln Gods are generous donors who contribute $2,500 to fund one resident for a full two-week residency. The funding covers all residency fee-related items – housing, meals, and studio space. Kiln God awards are juried and highly competitive.

As a Kiln God, you have the opportunity to establish a relationship with a Watershed resident artist. We encourage Kiln Gods to visit Watershed, meet their sponsored artists and see them at work in the studio. In turn, award recipients share Watershed impressions and experiences with their Kiln Gods, often forming a lasting connection that continues long after their residency ends.
