Artist Scholarships

Thanks to generous donor support, Watershed is able to provide nearly 45% of artists with full or partial scholarships to attend a residency each year. Many of these exceptional artists would not be able to participate without these generous contributions.

Please consider making a gift to support Watershed artists in one of the following ways:

Give to the Scholarship Fund

Contributions to the Watershed Scholarship Fund allow us to award partial scholarship to artists with consideration given to artistic merit. Awards cover up to 75% of the cost of a 2-week residency. Watershed welcomes gifts of any size to this fund.

Donors who give $500 or more to the Scholarship Fund are recognized as part of the Patrons Circle and receive a special gift along with acknowledgment for giving at this level.

Become a Kiln God

Historically, a kiln god is a figure made of clay that is placed over the entrance of a kiln to provide good luck during a firing. At Watershed, Kiln Gods are generous donors who contribute $2,500 to fund one resident for a full two-week residency. The funding covers all residency fee-related items – housing, meals, and studio space – as well as associated overhead costs. Kiln God awards are juried and highly competitive. Donors and their sponsored artists often form lasting connections that continue long after the residency ends.

Named Endowments

Establish a named endowment with a gift of $35,000 and provide Watershed with annual revenue for decades to come. These funds will be invested permanently and the income generated by the fund will be used annually to support Watershed artists through scholarships. Donations may be spread over multiple years.

To learn more or to establish a named endowment, please contact Watershed’s Director, Fran Rudoff, at
