Artist Scholarships

Thanks to generous donors, Watershed provides nearly 45% of artists-in-residence with full or partial financial assistance. You can choose to direct your scholarship gift to the following funds:

Watershed Scholarship Fund

Contributions to the Watershed Scholarship Fund provide support to talented artists at all stages of their careers. Awards cover up to 75% of the cost of a two-week residency.

Watershed welcomes gifts of any size to this fund. Donors who give $500 or more to the Scholarship Fund are recognized as part of the Patrons Circle and receive a special acknowledgment for giving at this level.

Kiln God Scholarships

Handmade figurines called kiln gods historically served as talismans to ensure successful kiln firings. At Watershed, Kiln Gods are generous donors who contribute $2,500 to fund one artist for a two-week residency. The funding covers residency tuition, housing, meals, and studio space—as well as associated overhead costs.

Kiln God awards are highly competitive merit scholarships. Kiln God donors and their sponsored artists often form lasting connections that continue long after the residency.

Become a Kiln God by making your contribution online (click the button below) or by contacting us at Development@watershedceramics.org

Named Endowments

Establish a named scholarship endowment with a gift of $35,000 and provide Watershed with annual revenue for decades to come. Endowment funds are invested permanently and the income generated by the fund annually supports scholarships for Watershed artists. Donations may be spread over multiple years.

To learn more or to establish a named endowment, please contact Watershed’s Director, Fran Rudoff, at frudoff@watershedceramics.org.
